Thank You CERT : Our Spring 2012 Course Marshals

From the "Girls On The Run of NoVa" Team Leaders Blog (with permission):

We are excited to announce that Fairfax County’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) - community partners trained to provide an extra level of support to their local neighborhoods in disaster situations - will be fulfilling a special role as the new Course Marshal Sponsor for the Girls on the Run Spring 5K. All of the Spring 5K Course Marshals will be CERT-trained Fairfax County residents.

We know their dedication to the community and broad range of skills (everything from delivering first aid to directing an emergency response effort) will make them especially suited to serve as the Course Marshals that ensure our estimated 10,000+ GOTR girls and Buddy Runners follow the course safely to reach the finish line and complete their GOTR program.

We want to thank James Sobecke, who will be Team Leader for the CERT Course Marshals, for identifying the unique value that CERT-trained team members could offer to the Course Marshal role, and to his whole team for becoming part of this big, fun event. We’re so grateful for your support!

You can learn more about CERT, including details about their program, different levels of training, and how to get involved on their website on FairfaxCounty.gov.
