Resolve to be Ready in 2008!

The New Year is a perfect time to Resolve to be Ready. The Ready Campaign has outlined the top 10 items for a basic emergency supply kit: water, food, radio, flashlight, first-aid kit, whistle, moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties, wrench or pliers, local maps, and personal items.

"Having a plan can make all the difference," said Secretary Chertoff. "The time for individuals, families and businesses to plan is now, and to resolve to make readiness a priority for 2008." Read More at

Some other ideas:
You can speak to your civic association about what you learned in CERT to see if you can form a CERT in your neighborhood,
Come help during the next class,
Help with other CERT outreach items that our PIO posts,
Assist your business or workplace by supporting workplace preparedness

  1. Hi folks,
If your civic association would like to have someone to come out and "talk CERT" to your neighbors, please let me know. Drop an email to with details as to where and when; I'll be happy to help.

  2. That is a good resolve to make people aware of "CERT". We could also resolve not to have drinking at CERT socials because the people leave and drive after one or two beers is too many and can hurt people. The MADD websight have details on stats.

  3. Let's all be adults!

Adults act with responsibility with drinking and getting behind the steering wheel of a car. If you see someone not acting adult like then put your CERT training to action and deny access to the hazard or in a more PC fashion, divert the person elsewhere till they are safe to put behind the wheel..

Point of clarity: The socials after CERT events just that; post event socials. They are not CERT events.
