The Red Cross Save a Life event- CERT "ROCKS!!" this event..

The save a life event event today was a success. It was not a large event in terms of numbers of people; but the people we spoke to were genuinely interested in our CERT program. Lots of questions were asked; our very capable volunteer staff manning the display cheerfully fielded each question with enthusiasm. The Red Cross managed this event; they brought out their command and control bus, their disaster action team vehicle and a mobile kitchen for display.Fairfax County fire and rescue brought out a fire engine for display; NOAA, Small Business Administration, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Life services, Fairfax County Medical Reserve Corps and CERT set up booths in the school. We got some really good comments on our display; and had a really good display placement. CPR, AED , baby sitter training and first aid for pets training were held in the school lunch room; we were right outside the main entrance.
We fielded questions and distributed information from 8:30am to 4:00 pm and a good time was had by all. Our volunteers for this event deserve special commendation for presenting CERT in a most professional and informative manner. Our CERT team manning the booth were awesome, as usual and special thanks go out to each of them. Our volunteers were:

Jack Ledgerwood (morning shift)
Suzi Ledgerwood (morning shift)
Andrew Levy (mid day shift)
Eydie (afternoon shift)
Jon Curl (who showed up just in time to help us break down the displays)

Couldn't have done it withough you, folks.THANKS FOR YOUR HELP TODAY !!!!

CERT always "rocks" , whether it be in the classroom or out in the burn building. Today Fairfax County CERT "rocked" the community!
Thanks folks!
